PPL Electric reported a 31.8-gigawatt pipeline of AI data center demand in its service territory, including 11 GW under signed agreements past the exploratory stage, per PA Environment Digest Blog. The utility’s joint venture with Blackstone secured Pennsylvania sites to build up to 14 GW of new generation capacity to meet that demand.

These pipelines will affect interconnection queues, generation buildout timelines, and power availability in Pennsylvania and similar markets. Operators evaluating sites in utility territories with large pipelines should expect longer lead times for firm power and closer scrutiny of how efficiently each load uses its allocated capacity.
