Alpha Compute signed a binding term sheet for a 200 MW natural gas-powered data center campus in Pennsylvania, one of the larger such campuses proposed in the state. The term sheet is not yet a final agreement. The site can expand to 1 GW, The Manila Times reported.

The project joins recent data center deals where developers secure dedicated natural gas generation for new campuses rather than wait for grid interconnection. The interconnection queue has slowed AI and cloud buildouts in several U.S. regions.

A campus built around its own natural gas plant runs a different power and thermal profile than one drawing entirely from the regional grid. On-site generation changes the load curve, backup posture, and power quality that cooling and monitoring systems must track from day one, making early granular visibility into the power and thermal chain more valuable.
